Police in Malaysia are using drones to detect people with high temperatures in public spaces as part of Covid prevention measures, according to local media.
The drones, which can detect people’s temperatures as high as 20m above ground, emit a red light to alert the authorities if someone has a high reading, Bernama, Malaysia’s state news agency, reported.

Kroger, one of America’s biggest grocery chains, is beginning to test a drone-delivery service near Dayton, OH. Starting this week, Kroger will begin testing deliveries near the company’s store in Centerville, Ohio.
“Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin later this spring, and a second pilot is scheduled to launch this summer at a Ralphs store in California,” according to Kroger’s announcement.
The Federal Aviation Administration has permitted commercial use of drones for several years. But until recently, regulations required the drones to be within the line of sight of the operator. That wasn’t a big deal for aerial photography, but it made drones useless for a retail delivery service.

In the early morning gloom, it was hard to make out how big the lights were and how many were hovering above him. But one thing was clear to Montoya: he needed to give chase.
As he approached the drones in his car, they “took off very fast” and Montoya tried to follow. He confesses hitting 120mph before losing track of them. “They were creepy, really creepy,” he says. “I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s almost as if they were watching us.”

A drone dispatched to Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula has relayed spectacular images of a volcano that continues to spew lava days after it erupted.
Footage from RT’s video agency Ruptly shows the mountain ejecting bursts of lava as rivers of boiling orange liquid cascade down the rock formation. A huge plume of smoke rises into the sky as the camera, attached to a drone, surveys the stunning natural phenomenon.
The volcano, located some 40km (25 miles) south-west of Iceland’s capital Reykjavik, erupted on Friday night, but the fountain of lava has yet to subside.
Following the eruption, inbound and outgoing air traffic was halted at Keflavik International Airport due to the volcano’s close proximity to the capital.
It had been 781 years since the Reykjanes Peninsula saw a volcanic eruption. The Mount Fagradalsfjall volcano is believed to have been dormant for around 6,000 years.

T-Mobile has been developing drones since 2015, using them in their network for delivery services and infrastructure inspection. They have also been working with the Small UAV Coalition as well as being active in various FAA committees and programs concerning drone policy and technology.
T-Mobile now sees 5G as a way to expand the use cases of drones, such as for emergency response. The Un-Carrier wants to put miniature cell sites on drones to enable line-of-sight and non-light-of-sight connectivity as well as give the ability to fly in temporary cellular connectivity.
One company, Unmanned Life is developing autonomous drones to disinfect public places and deliver medical supplies. In the retail space, T-Mobile hopes to use drone delivery to expand contactless shopping.
The Un-Carrier sees their expanding 5G network and low latency as a way to engender drone development and drone services and transform many facets of our society. One of these facets is sports. They are working with the Drone Racing League to use 5G to power their racing drones as part of T-Mobile Ventures, giving the DRL direct access to T-Mobile’s network and engineering expertise, as well as infrastructure and investment.

Demonstrators against new restrictions on abortion flooded the streets of Warsaw, in what has been described as one of the largest protests in decades to rock the Polish capital.
Tens of thousands of people marched through Warsaw on Friday night, as part of a week-long series of demonstrations sparked by a court decision that banned nearly all abortions in Poland.
Drone footage published by Ruptly, RT’s video agency, shows a sea of protesters pouring into the city’s roadways. People lit flares, waved lights and held homemade signs as they moved through the capital. The protest was so large that even footage taken from the air doesn’t appear to show the entire demonstration, with columns of people seemingly continuing into the distance.
The massive demonstration was largely peaceful, but there was a noticeable police presence due to concerns that clashes could break out with right-wing counter-protesters.
Poland’s constitutional tribunal ruled earlier this month that abortions in instances where the fetus has a serious birth defect were unconstitutional. The decision makes abortion unlawful in almost all circumstances, as Poland already has some of the most restrictive laws on the procedure in Europe.
Poland’s government has accused the demonstrators of endangering public health by spreading coronavirus. Abortion activists argue that they are fighting for human rights.
