I once wrote a children’s book (that I never actually published or did anything with) about the origin story of the emu, which I hypothesized as being the offspring of two ostriches who were each so heartbroken that they just became very emo — hence, emus. But never in my wildest imagination did I fathom that real-life fathom would be involved in something so much more twisted:
