This is one very good doggo. A New Jersey dog has been promised a steak dinner after it courageously chased a huge black bear from a neighbor’s backyard this week.

Mark Stinziano, of West Milford, shared home security video footage on Tuesday that captured a black bear raiding the bird feeder behind his house before his neighbor’s dog, Riley, rushes over to scare off the huge bear.

The intruding bear can be seen scrambling to escape the fearlessly charging pooch.

“He is an awesome pup that comes to check on the kids from time to time. Now he is keeping them safe,” Stinziano wrote about Riley on Facebook.

Stinziano said Riley always checks in on his kids when they’re playing in the pool.

“Riley – 1, Bear – 0,” he added.

Riley’s proud owner, Alan Tlusty, told ABC 7 he wasn’t surprised that his courageous dog took action.

“It’s incredible,” Tlusty said. “He does chase after the bear whenever he sees him in the yard … but not like this.”

Black bears are attracted by odors from potential food sources, according to the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, which urges residents not to leave out any food or garbage that may encourage bears to linger in residential areas.

The agency recommends suspending bird feeders from a free-hanging wire, making sure it is at least 10 feet off the ground and at least 10 feet away from the trunk of a tree. It also warns residents not to suspend feeders off of the house or deck.
