Want Your Amazon Orders in Time for Christmas? Here Are the Cutoff Dates

Amazon boxes ready for ChristmasArne Beruldsen/Shutterstock.com

Last minute Christmas shoppers: If you’re planning on buying holiday gifts from Amazon, you better place your order this week unless you subscribe to Amazon Prime. That is, at least, if you want your item to arrive in time for December 25.

As with previous years, Amazon has published cutoff dates so customers can tell whether they are going to get their items in time for Christmas. This year, non-Prime members who place an order worth more than $25 and choose Amazon’s free shipping should complete that order by Saturday, December 14 if you need it to hit your doorstep in time for the festivities.

That policy is a little less forgiving than last year when Amazon offered free delivery with no minimum order amount for non-Prime members, while this year you’ll have to spend at least $25 to be eligible for the store’s free shipping option. If you’re willing to pay for standard 3-5 day shipping as a non-Prime member, you have until Wednesday the 18th to complete your Amazon orders.

Amazon delivery cutoff dates for ChristmasAmazon

Prime members have some extra time to play with, of course. The cutoff for packages shipped via Prime’s default two-day delivery option is Wednesday, December 22. And if you happen to spot the perfect gift on December 23 as an Amazon Prime member, you can still choose free one-day delivery and place the order with confidence. More than 10 million items qualify for one-day delivery and will be shipped for free with no minimum purchase amount.

Separately, it’s also worth mentioning that Prime members who live in areas where Amazon offers free two-hour grocery deliveries will be able to place orders for delivery until Christmas Eve at 3-5 PM local time for Whole Foods orders and 8 PM for Amazon Fresh orders. In late October, Amazon eliminated its monthly fee of $14.99 for Amazon Fresh and bundled the grocery delivery service into the perks you get as a Prime member for $12.99 a month or $119 for a whole year.

Toy Tuesday: The Best James Bond Toys

bond-header.jpg

We’re getting closer to No Time To Die, the last James Bond flick with Daniel Craig as 007. Who will carry the mantle next? That’s still up in the air, but one thing’s for sure: Ian Fleming’s spy franchise is virtually indestructible at this point. The evolution of Bond through multiple actors and geopolitical eras is one of the most interesting stories in cinema history, and there have been some seriously dope 007 toys in his history. Here are 11 of our favorites.

LEGO Aston Martin DB5

LEGO Aston Martin DB5

007 has always been known for having a garage full of truly sweet rides to choose from, most of which have been tricked out by Q to include a variety of gadgets. The LEGO Creator take on the Aston Martin DB5 that he drove in Goldfinger is designed at the larger scale that the company uses for realistic automotive models, measuring over a foot long when fully assembled. The interior is super detailed, with a hidden radar tracker and a gearshift switch that pops the hood to unveil a pair of machine guns that let Bond cut his way through traffic.

12 Inch James Bond Collectible Figure

12 Inch James Bond Collectible Figure

Many people consider Sean Connery the greatest Bond in history, and he’s got a strong case, especially during the character’s 1960s peak. This incredible figure from the minds at Big Chief uses 1/6 scale – the measurements used for the original G.I. Joes – to pack a wild amount of detail and customization into this take on the Scotsman’s spy. Clad in a hand-tailored gray suit, Bond comes with a dozen interchangeable hands and a flabbergasting array of accessories, including a bar of gold bullion, a tracking device and a mint julep. A light-up stand lets you display your spy in style.

Corgi Lotus Esprit Model

Corgi Lotus Esprit Model

Another iconic car from the Bond franchise, our man drove the customized Esprit in The Spy Who Loved Me, delivering one of the series’ coolest moments. As Bond and KGB agent Anya Amasova are making their escape from villain Karl Stromberg’s base in the car, things look dire until, with a flip of the switch the car’s wheels retract, fins sprout and it shifts shape into a submarine. This high-quality die-cast metal replica measures four and a half inches long and is precisely detailed to screen-perfect accuracy.

Funko Pop James Bond

Funko Pop James Bond

Pierce Brosnan’s tenure as Bond was a strange one – the actor was originally offered the role in 1986 to succeed Roger Moore, but was under contract to his TV show Remington Steele at the time and didn’t get to assume the mantle of 007 until nearly a decade later, after the uninspiring Timothy Dalton era. Brosnan’s tenure as the super-spy was pretty uneven, with critics praising his vulnerability and depth while panning the padded plots of the movies themselves. This Funko Pop version of the English actor’s take on James Bond is a solid tribute to his time in the suit.

Sideshow Collectibles Oddjob Figure

Sideshow Collectibles Oddjob Figure

In many ways the 1960s were the peak of Bond’s popularity, as the franchise deviated from Ian Fleming’s novels in unique and sometimes ridiculous ways. 1964’s Goldfinger introduced one of the most iconic henchmen in cinema history with Oddjob, the menacing manservant of evil gold magnate Auric Goldfinger. Clad in a black suit and bowler hat, Oddjob is a master of martial arts with incredible striking power in his rock-hard hands, but if things get out of control he doffs his topper and reveals a razor-sharp blade secreted in the rim. Death by hat seems undignified.

SPECTRE Ring Prop Replica

SPECTRE Ring Prop Replica

Every good spy needs a shadowy organization to struggle against, and SPECTRE has been a thorn in James Bond’s side since the very beginning. Standing for Special Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion, the group made its cinematic debut in Dr. No and has appeared in multiple films since. Led by the despicable Ernst Stavro Blofeld, SPECTRE has its tentacles in misdeeds all over the world. With this movie-accurate prop replica, you can blend in as a henchman with the group in case you want to do some deep cover work, or just steal office supplies from the closet when nobody’s looking.

Le Chiffre Funko Pop

Le Chiffre Funko Pop

We’ve commented before on the cognitive dissonance between the cutesy visual style of Funko Pops and some of the more mature franchises that they depict, but this might be the apotheosis of that issue. As played by Mads Mikkelsen in 2006’s Casino Royale, the vicious terrorist financier Le Chiffre is strongly implied to be at least partially responsible for 9/11 and in one of the film’s most gruesome scenes beats the hell out of Bond’s ball-bag with a coiled length of rope. Now you can remember that brutal groin torture every time you look over at your Pop shelf!

Sideshow Collectibles James Bond Moonraker Figure

Sideshow Collectibles James Bond Moonraker Figure

Roger Moore is considered by many to be the definitive Bond, and on some days we might agree. 1979’s Moonraker might be the most absurd flick in the Bond franchise, but that just makes us love it all the more. After Star Wars became a global phenomenon, producers rushed this one to the screen to capitalize. 007 has to travel to Earth’s orbit to investigate a space station being used by the villainous Hugo Drax to destroy all human life on Earth with nerve gas. This dope action figure dresses Bond in his spacesuit and gives him a wrist-mounted dart launcher and laser gun for self-defense.

Legendary: James Bond Deck-Building Game

Legendary: James Bond Deck-Building Game

Becoming an agent of Her Majesty’s Secret Service isn’t something that most of us can aspire to, but if you want to step in the expensive shoes of James Bond, there are several ways to do it. Upper Deck’s solid entry in the deck-building card game genre lets 1-5 players go through a suite of classic 007 flicks, combating villains and their henchmen, foiling schemes, and leading up to a climactic confrontation with the Mastermind. Easy to understand rules combine with a surprising amount of strategic depth to create a very replayable game for Bond fanatics.

Polar Lights James Bond Model Kit

Polar Lights James Bond Model Kit

If you want to build your own super-spy, this reissue of the classic Aurora plastic model kit from 1966 will scratch that itch. Back in the day, plastic model kits were the ultimate test of a geek’s creative resolve, requiring pinpoint accuracy with part cutting, gluing and painting to produce a fine finished product. This diorama depicts James Bond peeking out from behind cover, gun at the ready to cut down any enemies that might impede his mission.

Spectre Day Of The Dead Mask Replica

Spectre Day Of The Dead Mask Replica

2015’s Spectre opens with Daniel Craig’s Bond in the middle of Mexico City on the Day of the Dead. To blend in with the revelers on his way to assassinate terrorist leader Marco Sciarra, he dons a bone-white mask that gives him the visage of a grinning skeleton. That mask was custom-designed for the film by award-winning creator Jany Temime, who lent his expertise to creating this screen-accurate replica that you can take home. Cast from the original molds in durable epoxy and then hand-painted, this is an incredible piece that will have visitors to your trophy room talking.

7 Great Gifts for All the Coffee Addicts in Your Life

A cup of coffee with a present and an envelope.Evgeny Karandaev/Shutterstock

Gift giving ain’t always easy. That is, unless you’re shopping for a hardcore coffee drinker. Here are seven of the best gifts for all the coffee addicts in your life.

The Cute Route: A Custom Coffee Mug

A customized mug.Hat Shark

What’s the fastest way to a caffeine addict’s heart? A customized mug, of course! Amazon sells coffee mugs that can be customized with images and text, so you can surprise your friends and family with silly photos and coffee-related phrases.

The Cute Route

Personalized Add Your Custom Text and Photo White Ceramic 11 Oz Coffee Mug Customizable Gift

Unique coffee mugs make great gifts, especially when you get to customize one yourself.

A Coffee Essential: The Cuisinart Burr Grinder

The Cuisinart Burr GrinderCuisinart

Believe it or not, the quality of a coffee’s grind contributes to its flavor. A drip brew with an uneven grind can taste watery and bland, while pressed coffee with an uneven grind can end up full of sediment. To get the most consistent grind, you need to use a specialized burr grinder.

Burr grinders can get pretty expensive, so they’re rarely passed around as gifts. But the Cuisinart electric burr grinder, which has a large reservoir and adjustable grind settings, is a good grinder at an affordable price.

A Coffee Essential

Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill

The Cuisinart DBM-8 is an affordable, high-quality burr grinder that’ll be appreciated by any sensible coffee drinker.

For Slow Drinkers: The Ember Temperature Controlled Mug

The Ember Temperature Controlled MugEmber

Nobody likes cold coffee. If you’re shopping for a slow drinker (you know the type), then consider getting them an Ember temperature-controlled smart mug. That way, they can set and maintain their coffee’s temperature from their phone. If you’re feeling really wild, you could even buy them the Ember travel mug.

For Slow Drinkers

Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug, 10 Ounce, 1-hr Battery Life, White – App Controlled Heated Coffee Mug

Slow drinkers always end up with cold coffee. That is, unless they use an Ember temperature-controlled coffee cup.

For Strong Coffee or Cold Brew: The Bodum French Press

The Bodum French PressBodum

French presses are easy to use, easy to clean, and perfect for brewing powerful French and Italian dark roasts. They’re also great for making cold brew—just fill the French press with coffee and water and throw it in the fridge overnight! Bodum makes a fantastic French press that’s durable, large, and reasonably priced. It’s the perfect gift for a dark roast or cold brew fiend.

Just keep in mind that French presses work with coarsely ground coffee only. Finely ground coffee will slip through the filters on a French press, create sediment, and cause the coffee to taste oily. If your giftee only buys pre-ground coffee, they probably won’t get much use out of a French press.

For Strong Coffee or Cold Brew

Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Maker, 1 Liter, 34 Ounce, Chrome

Bodum’s French Press is reasonably priced, durable, and perfect for making a strong dark roast or a hearty cold brew.

The Gift of Italian Coffee: A Moka Coffee Maker

A Moka Coffee MakerBialetti

Every coffee lover needs a Moka in their life. These stovetop coffee makers are easy to use, and they produce a strong, flavorful Italian-styled brew you won’t find anywhere else. Plus, they’re pretty inexpensive coffee makers. The Bialetti Moka coffee maker, for instance, costs less than $40 and is built to last a lifetime.

The Gift of Italian Coffee

Bialetti 06800 Moka stove top coffee maker, 6 -Cup, Aluminum

The Bialetti Moka coffee maker is essential for making strong, Italian-styled coffee. It’s easy to use, it’s cheap, and it’ll last for years.

For Coffee Nerds: The AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker

The Aeropress Coffee and Espresso MakerAeroPress

Coffee nerds love the AeroPress, a quick and easy-to-use coffee maker that’s a bit like a pour-over mixed with a French press. It produces a consistent, strong brew without making a big mess or wasting any grounds. It’s just one of those things that hardcore coffee drinkers need in their life, even if they haven’t realized it yet. So why not lean into that? Why not buy your giftee the magic of an AeroPress?

For Coffee Nerds

AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker – Quickly Makes Delicious Coffee without Bitterness – 1 to 3 Cups Per Pressing

The AeroPress is an essential gift for the coffee die-hard in your life. It’s inexpensive and easy to use, but it produces a consistent, strong brew.

The Ultimate Coffee Gift: A Bunch of Coffee

The Bean Box Gourmet Coffee SamplerBean Box

This might come as a major surprise, but a big box of coffee is the perfect gift for any coffee drinker. It doesn’t matter if they’re a know-it-all aficionado, a quiet coffee maestro, or even a village idiot. They’re happy with beans.

If you want to get the best possible beans for your giftee, then we suggest buying a Bean Box gourmet coffee sampler. Each sampler box comes with a half-pound of fresh gourmet coffee in four different varieties, along with neat brochures on brewing and roasting.

You can’t go wrong with a box full of coffee. The Bean Box sampler comes with a half-pound of gourmet, fresh coffee.
