Sen. Amy Klobuchar said Sunday that she is “very concerned” the White House will limit the scope of the FBI investigation into allegations of sexual assault against Brett Kavanaugh, despite assurances from White House officials that the terms of the inquiry are being set by the Senate. The Minnesota Democrat said her worry is based on news reports. Klobuchar sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee where one of Kavanaugh’s accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, testified Thursday, “I’m very concerned about this because the White House should not be allowed to micromanage an FBI investigation,” Klobuchar said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” also calling on her Republican colleagues to ensure the investigation is fair and thorough. She said she was “really stunned” by an exchange between her and Kavanaugh at the hearing on Thursday in which she asked him if he ever drank to the point of not remembering and he combatively turned the question back on her. “This is basically a job interview for the highest court in the land,” she said. “One idea here is he simply was drinking more than he was saying over this time period and that he didn’t remember what happened. ... I was actually trying to get to the truth.” Kavanaugh denied ever blacking out from alcohol, but Klobuchar said she questioned if he was telling the truth. “It doesn’t quite make sense to me, because first of all, you have these other people from parts of his life who have said he was belligerent when he was drunk,” she said. source: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/09/30/klobuchar-kavanaugh-fbi-investigation-853977 #Headlines by: jklimas@politico.com (Jacqueline Klimas)
